3D Chess Pieces

Does anyone know how to get the fully rendered chess pieces for Chessbase 9? They show the pieces in the manual but they don't show up in the 3D board options. I think it would be nice to be able to play with realistic 3D pieces.

Open a game or blank board.
Select View->3D
or hit Ctrl+Alt+X (For 3D Board)
and Ctrl+Alt+2 (For 2D Board)
You can then tweak the settings further under ->Tools ->Design ->3D Board Options
If it gives you weird looking pieces
(clipped images)lower the detail settings, remove shadows, etc.
If that doesn't work, make sure you have the latest video card drivers, and Direct-X files installed.

Sancho,

I have a 3D board in CB9 but it isn't the same set as the one in the manual. Is there a way to get the nice set that's shown in the manual?

A lot of those sets are available only through particular Chess Engines.
When I added Junior 9 earlier this year it gave me another 3D board to choose from on the list.
Make sure you are choosing 3D and not "Old 3-D Board" from the view menu.

I assume you are talking about the board shown on pg.6 of the manual.
Not sure which board that is, it's hard to tell from the photo.

Hey Sancho. Yeah, I am picking Modern, not Old. Here is the board I am talking about.

That particular board is called "Noble Wood". It came with Junior 9.
Yes it is very nice looking.
I use either that one or "Classic Wood". "Classic" predominately.
